Tummy Time

We finally bought a living room rug so it allows for Katie to play on the floor in the living room instead of only on the floor in her room. Here's a run through of today's tummy time.

And...She's on the move!

2 Months Old

Katherine was two months old yesterday. She weighed in today at 9 lbs. 13 oz and 23 inches long. She's in the 20th percentile for weight and the 75th percentile for height.
The hightlights this month have been:

- Trip to So. Cal

-Outgrowing her newborn clothes and almost too tall for her 0-3 month clothes

- Katie's big eyes and easy smiles

- Making eye contact with me

- The ahh, ahh, ahh sounds and the kicking she does when she gets excited about eating

-She loves to stand with assistance.

- She is also spending much more time alert and awake

-Both my mom and Aunty Mandy have been here for a visit

-Dustin's first valentine's card to his daughter
-Baby Dedication on Sunday, February 15th

Dustin had to be up early for school on Valentine's Day. I brought Katie into our bed after her early morning feeding only to find that Dustin was already up and showered. I put her into bed next to me and we both fell right back to sleep. When we awoke several hours later I awoke to find a card for Katherine and a teddy bear for her laying next to her and he had left my card on my pillow above my head. Thank you love for making the day special for both of us. It's so special to see you loving our daughter.

Aunty Mandy comes for a visit. She's so anxious for Katie to get to the age where she wants to play, but I love this infant stage.

Katherine got to meet Courtney. Courtney was one of my students when I taught fifth grade.

Gummy Grins at 8 Weeks

The best part about this week has been the easy grins I've been getting. Before now Katie's smiles have been few and far between, but now I can talk to her and she smiles for me. It somehow makes the long nights much more fun.

So Cal Katie Tour

Last week we finally had the oppurtunity to head to Southern Cal so Katherine could meet her great-grandparents. It also gave us the oppurtunity to catch up with other family members and some of our college friends. Here's an overview of what the very busy 5 days held. It would have taken another week to accomplish everything we wanted to do and the people we wanted to see.
On Monday Katherine and I spent the day with my best girlfriends from college. It was so fun for the four of us to spend the entire day together catching up. They are my dear friends, all of whom were in our wedding and I miss them. We're all married now and it is seldom that we see each other. It will be exciting to see where the years ahead lead and our children get to play with one another.

Rob was the best man in our wedding. He joined us for dinner and met our little one.

On Wednesday Dustin spoke to several Poli Sci classes at our Alma Mater. Katherine and I met him there to visit with some of the staff that we became friends with. Katie even got a little Lancer hat from the bookstore.

Katie being held by my Aunt Linda. While in So Cal my cousin Don and his wife Amanda gave birth to their little girl Samantha five weeks early. My Aunt Linda became a grandma for the first time and we got to see the latest addition to the family. Katie and Baby Samantha are exactly 7 weeks apart in age. That should make family get togethers extra fun in the years to come.

Katherine meets her Great Grandma Muzquiz.

Katherine meets my Papa and Grandma Bino. We named Katherine after my Grandma Bino and it was so neat for them to finally meet. My grandma has been such an instrumental figure in my life and it was without question who we would name our daughter after.

My Uncle Jim and cousin David were also in San Clemente on Sunday night so they also had the chance to meet Katie. We were treated to two of my very favorite places to eat. We eat at Sonny's in San Clemente. They have amazing italian food. We also went to Oceanside Harbor to eat fish and chips. They have the very best fish and chips you've ever eaten. I recommend eating at both places if you are ever in the area.
Oceanside Harbor- We've been going there for fish as long as I can remember. When my sis and I spent a summer with my grandparents we would go to Camp Penelton and bowl every week then head to Oceanside for fish.
Hanging out back at my parents house. Katherine spending time with Grandpa Bino.

5 Weeks Old

The major event this week was that Grandma Bino came to visit. No one told me that if I had a baby I'd get to see my mom a lot more. I'm not sure why we waited so long.
This has been one of my favorite pair of jammies to put Katie in. They were the only ones that weren't huge on her when she was born. I was sad to find that they were too snug last time I put them on her. I had to take a photo before I retired them.
